Obituary

Patricia Anne Boyce

It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of our mother, baba, sister, and daughter at Riverview Personal Care Centre in the late hours of January 14, 2022.

Patricia (Pat) was born, raised, and educated in Winnipeg. After graduating from school and working in the hospitality industry, she moved to Vancouver. She spent a few years in Vancouver but came back home to Winnipeg to raise her family. For the last 30+ years of work, she worked for the Winnipeg Regional Authority Home Care Program. She was one of the first Resource Coordinators in the Program and received many awards throughout her career. She was dedicated to her work and cared deeply for all her clients.

She loved her family and was passionate about being involved in her children’s lives. She loved coaching girls’ baseball at Riverview Community Centre and was THE “hockey mom”. You could always find her driving her son and other players all around the city. She loved all types of sports. She played Women’s Slow Pitch Baseball and you could always find her watching her favorite Jets hockey games or cheering on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Her favorite summer pastime was spending weekends at the family cabin in Grand Marias. Many great memories were made sitting on the cliff at the cabin with friends and family. She loved to cook and made the best Trifle, Tortiere, and awesome Spaghetti and Meatballs.
Pat was well known for her passion for shopping. She often referred to her shopping as “therapy” and had a reputation for owning a vast collection of shoes.

As her children grew and had children of their own, Patricia’s world became enriched by her grandkids. She became a “Baba” and loved looking after her grandkids.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her daughter Jennifer, son Shawn, and grandchildren Kyra (Braden), Courtney (Tyler), and Ryan. Great-grandchildren Avery and Beau. She is survived by her mother Anne Goodman, sister Dawn (Alan) and brothers Lloyd Jr. (Marilyn), Darren (Debbie), and Dan (Anny), and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her father Lloyd Goodman.

She struggled with dementia in the last 6 years of her life and spent the last 4 years at Riverview. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff on AB1 and CD1. They provided outstanding care for Pat and support for the family.

As per Patricia’s wishes, cremation has already taken place. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at a later date.
