Frederick Allen James Stasko “The Dad”

Obituary

Frederick Allen James Stasko “The Dad”
January 6, 1950 - October 13, 2022

With broken hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our Dad, Grampa and Uncle.
Left to cherish dad’s memory are his daughter Wendy, son-in-law Scott, daughter Connie and son Freddy, Grandchildren Kayley, Brian, Hunter & Ryland, brother Bill and sister-in-law Evy.

Dad was predeceased by his parents Anne & Bill, and sisters Delores & Rosie.

Dad worked for the City of Winnipeg for 38 years. After his retirement, he kept busy working part-time over the years as the Doorman at Evergreen Towers, as a delivery driver for Chicken Delight and Pizza Hut as well as driving cars down to the border and back while working for ADESA Auctions. One of the highlights of his life was when he met Don Cherry while on the job at Enterprise Rent a Car. Dad was full of smiles.

Dad was also quite the dancer. He would throw on the cowboy boots and he was ready to go onto the dance floor. He really enjoyed music and could often be seen singing/whistling and dancing any time or anywhere to his favourite songs.

Back in the day, we would have a family get-together which often involved shooting a game of pool or playing horseshoes. He was a tough one to beat but we all had so much fun. Dad also really liked working on his cars, especially with his son Freddy. He would often go to the World of Wheels or hang out on Portage Avenue on Sunday Cruise nights just to watch and hear the beautiful cars drive by. He also liked to fish at his favourite spot by the dam in Lockport which he had been doing since he was young. Looking back we sure were busy making some great memories!

Dad had a heart of gold. When he was needed most, he was there. We are going to miss his laughter and all the good times we shared.

Dad this song is dedicated to you - As Frank Sinatra once sang “Yes there were times, I’m sure you knew when I bit off more than I could chew but through it all, when there was doubt I ate it up and spit it out I faced it all, and I stood tall and I did it my way”

Our family wishes to thank the nurses and health care aids at both Access Transcona Centre and Access River East Centre who provided home care for dad over the year.

Dad, you will be forever in our hearts. God bless and may you rest in peace. See you on the other side! Love Wendy Wendy, Con Artist and Gino.

A Memorial will take place at a later date.
