It’s with a heavy heart that our family is announcing the passing of a great man. Archer (Archie) George Grift. Born May 26, 1953, in Transcona.

Our beloved husband, father, brother and a great friend to all have left us in the arms of our heavenly Father on Saturday, August 27, 2022. After an extensive hospital stay and courageous battle, his loving heart gave out on him.

He is predeceased by parents Mary & Yohan Grift, sister Marlene Demchuk and brother-in-Law Ed, brother Ed Grift, brother Bert and sister-in-law Penny Grift, sister-in-law Fran Grift, brother-in-law Don Lippens.

Survived by his loving wife Maria, daughter Belinda and son Bert, stepson Lloyd (Olha) (Milana), mother-in-law, Olidia, brother Larry, sister Jo Ann Lippens, sister Mary Ann Stewart and brother-in-Law Mike, Wanda, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Archie was a dedicated husband and father with a list of friends that date back 50 years, he was remembered as a favourite uncle to many of his nieces and nephews, and a loving bother to his brothers and sisters. He was a listener and a problem solver; he was the one you would pour your heart into.

9 years ago, his sister Jo Ann donated a kidney and gave him the gift of life, allowing him to enjoy his passions of golfing and bowling with his brothers, his childhood friend & Cousin Bryon and his friends, Jim, Wayne, Norm and many more. His last few years were filled with laughter and happiness vacationing in different places with his wife Maria and surrounded by his immediate family.

Archie was born in Transcona and was a firm believer in supporting the local businesses. A practical man with a wonderful sense of humour, if it’s not on sale, is it necessary?”. Always willing to help those in need, a very caring and thoughtful person. Although he was retired for more than 10 Years from his job at Patterson’s Global foods, he was still remembered and respected by some of his colleagues.

He loved golfing and bowling with his brother Larry and friends. He also enjoyed baseball and curling in his earlier years. When he wasn’t playing, he would be watching the Wpg jets, Blue Jays, and the Blue Bombers.
